Eastman USAAF A-3 Flying Trousers
Flying at frigid high altitudes called for a special item of clothing to keep American airmen warm. The Army Air Corps designed the A-3 Flying Trousers, companion item to the B-3 Flying Jacket, with this exact purpose in mind. A-3 Flying Trousers were actually ordered by the Army Air Force with the B-3 Flight Jacket as a two-piece suit, not as a separate item; for every B-3 Flight Jacket that was made, there was a respective pair of A-3 Trousers. Constructed from the same materials as the jacket, they were designed to be worn with the B-3 Flight Jacket in extremely low temperatures.
Eastman Leather decided to recreate Army Air force history and make available, once again, the Type A-3 Winter Flying Trousers for the flying clothing enthusiast. Lovingly crafted with deft precision from high-quality North American sheepskin, these A-3s match the original item to the finest detail, including authentic zippers that run the entire length of the leg. Since these represent wartime A-3s, they are dyed dark brown on vegetable-tanned sheepskin, fully trimmed with Havana Brown Horsehide (Seal Brown Horsehide by request), authentic A-3 woven label, correct-width all-cotton webbing suspenders that have the authentic white underside, and reproduction 1942 nickel-plated Talon zippers, all of which make these another must for your flying-gear collection. Interestingly, A-3 Trousers actually require a greater square footage of sheepskin material to produce than a jacket, so they are priced accordingly, but we've endeavored to keep these as affordable as possible.

SIZING TIPS
About this Style: These trousers are sized by chest measure, which is exactly how the original A-3 Trousers were sized. The fit runs small, thus even though the largest size offered is a 46, size 46 should be reserved for those with a 44” chest circumference measure or smaller. Additionally, even though these are sized to correspond to the chest measure, there is still a direct relationship to waist measure, thus anyone with a chest measure of 44” cannot have a waist circumference measure greater than 38” and comfortably fit in these trousers.
Due to complexities involved in selecting a size that will fit properly, these trousers cannot be purchased via this online shopping cart and can only be purchased by contacting our office.
Tip 1: Measure your waist circumference at the widest point and note this measure. If your waist circumference measure exceeds 38”, these trousers will not comfortably fit you and you should not place an order. Please note that your waist circumference measure is not necessarily the labeled size you wear in trousers you may own, so please take the time to obtain your true waist circumference, as these trousers are not exchangeable or refundable unless faulty.
Tip 2: Measure your chest circumference as per the tab on this web site specifically addressing Body Measuring, then note this measure. If your chest circumference is greater than 44”, these trousers will not fit you and you should not place an order. Please note that your chest circumference measure is not necessarily the labeled size you wear in another jacket you may own from a different maker or even the same maker, so please take the time to obtain your true chest circumference, as these trousers are not exchangeable or refundable unless faulty.
