USAAF B-5 Flying Helmet, Rough Wear Clo. Co.
The B-5 is the definitive helmet USAAF airmen flew with in the thin, cold skies over Europe. This classic style dates back to 1933 and it is made in that same gorgeous, hand-dyed, vegetable-tanned, russet brown sheepskin found on our Rough Wear 17756 B-3 and B-6 Jackets. Assembled with olive drab all-cotton thread, russet brown horsehide trim, correct ear and chin cups, and Rough Wear label, there's no distinguishing ours from an original!
Sizes available: Sm. (7 1/8), Med. (7 1/4), Lg. (7 3/8) and XL (7 3/4). Please see our SIZING TIPS for advice on how to get the correct fit.

SIZING TIPS
About this Style:
These flying helmets are available in sizes Small, Medium, Large & Extra Large. The fit for size Small - Large runs slightly larger than your measured head size as converted to a cap size, and the size Extra Large is very generous, so the cap sizes have an approximate numerical hat size value as follows:
Small/Size 7 Medium/Size 7 ¼ Large/Size 7 3/8 Extra Large/Size 7 3/4
Tip 1: Measure your head circumference following the instructions found under the tab BODY MEASURING on this web site.
Tip 2: Covert your head measure to a cap size as found on the above-referenced tab link on this web site.
Tip 3: Order your corresponding cap size as converted from the head-measuring exercise found on this web site. For example: If your head measures 22 ¾”, which converts to size 7 ¼, order size Medium. If you measure in between sizes, we suggest always rounding your head measure up to the larger size, but only you can determine this subjective area of fit.
If you are unsure of the size to order we will assist you; please contact us with your head measure as derived from the instructions and diagram found under the tab for BODY MEASURING on this web site.
